Medications and Usage

Apidra - Short-acting insulin (3x/day w/meals) 

Fast-acting insulin that controls blood sugar around mealtimes for both types 1 and 2 diabetes.

​

Atenolol - Oral 

Used with or without other medications to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). 

​

Atorvastatin (Lipitor) - Oral 

Used to lower cholesterol in people who have been diagnosed with high cholesterol (high levels of cholesterol in the blood).  

​

Basaglar - Long-acting insulin (1x/day) 

Long-acting insulin gives a base amount of insulin to supplement the insulin the body produces naturally.

​

Evenity - Oral 

Used to treat osteoporosis in women after menopause who are at high risk of fracture, or cannot use another osteoporosis medicine or other osteoporosis medicines that did not work well.

​

Farxiga - Oral

Used for adults with type 2 diabetes to control high blood sugars and prevent kidney damage, blindness, nerve problems, loss of limbs, and sexual function problems. 

​

Fenofibrate - Oral 

Used to treat high cholesterol levels. It's mainly used to treat severe high triglycerides (a type of bad cholesterol).

​

Fibrates (TRIG medications) - Oral 

Used to help lower high triglyceride levels.

​

Forteo - Oral 

Used to treat postmenopausal women who have osteoporosis who are at high risk for having broken bones (fractures) or who cannot use other osteoporosis treatments. 

​

Furosemide (Lasix) - Oral 

A synthetic compound with a strong diuretic action used especially in the treatment of edema

​

Glimepiride - Oral 

Used with a proper diet and exercise program to control high blood sugar in people with type 2 diabetes.

​

Glipizide - Oral

Used with a proper diet and exercise program to control high blood sugar in people with type 2 diabetes.

​

Humalog - Short-acting insulin (3x/day w/meals) 

Fast-acting insulin that starts to work about 15 minutes after injection, peaks in about 1 hour, and keeps working for 2 to 4 hours.

​

Hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) - Oral 

Used to treat high blood pressure.

​

Invokana - Oral

Used with a proper diet and exercise program to control high blood sugar in people with type 2 diabetes.

​

Jardiance - Oral

Used along with diet and exercise to lower blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes, and also to reduce the risk of cardiovascular death in adults with type 2 diabetes who have known cardiovascular disease. 

​

Lantus - Long-acting insulin  (1x/day) 

Long-acting human insulin analog indicated to improve glycemic control in adults and pediatric patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus and in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

​

Levothyroxine/Synthroid/Levoxyl - Oral 

Used to treat an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism). It replaces or provides more thyroid hormone, which is normally produced by the thyroid gland.

​

Liothyronine/Cytomel - Oral 

Used to treat an underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism). It replaces or provides more thyroid hormone, which is normally produced by the thyroid gland.

​

Lisinopril (Prinivil/Zestril) - Oral 

Used to treat high blood pressure.

​

Lopid - Oral 

Used along with a proper diet to help lower fats (triglycerides) and raise "good" cholesterol (HDL) in the blood.

​

Losartan (Cozaar) - Oral 

Used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and to help protect the kidneys from damage due to diabetes.

​

Metformin/Metformin XR - Oral

Used with a proper diet and exercise program and possibly with other medications to control high blood sugar.

​

Methimazole (MMI) - Oral 

Used to treat an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism). It works by stopping the thyroid gland from making too much thyroid hormone.

​

Metoprolol - Oral 

Used to treat hypertension and angina.

​

Novolog - Short-acting insulin (3x/day w/meals) 

Fast-acting insulin that starts to work about 15 minutes after injection, peaks in about 1 hour, and keeps working for 2 to 4 hours.

​

Ozempic (SGLP-2) - Injectable

Used with a proper diet and exercise program to improve blood sugars in adults with type 2 diabetes. 

​

Prolia - Injectable 

Used to treat osteoporosis in women after menopause who are at high risk for fracture or cannot use another osteoporosis medicine or other osteoporosis medicines that did not work well.

​

Ramipril (Altace) - Oral 

Used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks, and kidney problems.

​

Repatha - Injectable 

Used to lower bad cholesterol and reduce your risk of a heart attack.

​

Rosuvastatin (Crestor) - Oral 

Used to treat several types of high cholesterol, and to prevent heart disease.

​

Rybelsus - Oral

Used to improve blood sugar control in adults over the age of 18 with type 2 diabetes.

​

Simvastatin (Zocor) - Oral 

Used together with a proper diet to treat high cholesterol and triglyceride (fat) levels in the blood. 

​

Synjardy - Oral

Used along with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes.

​

Touejeo - Long-acting insulin  (1x/day) 

Used to control high blood sugar in adults and children who are 6 years of age and older with diabetes mellitus.

​

Tresiba - Long-acting insulin  (1x/day) 

Used to manage blood sugar levels in people with type 1 or type 2 diabetes. 

​

Trulicity - Injectiobale

Used to control blood sugar and reduce cardiovascular risk in people with type 2 diabetes.

​

Tymlos - Oral 

 Used to treat postmenopausal osteoporosis.

​

Victoza - Injectable

Used with diet and exercise to improve control of blood sugar in adults with type 2 diabetes.

​

Zetia - Oral 

Used along with a low cholesterol/low-fat diet and exercise to help lower cholesterol in the blood.
